Special section on Earth System Governance: Accountability and Legitimacy

In June 2010, Working Group 3 of this COST Action organized an author workshop on "Earth System Governance: Accountability, Legitimacy and Democracy", bringing together papers proposed for a special section of Ecological Economics. The articles in this special issue can now be downloaded online. Financial support from COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) is gratefully acknowledged.

This special section of Ecological Economics focuses on the analytical challenge of accountability, legitimacy and the democratic quality of earth system governance. It is intended to be a first comprehensive attempt to bring a variety of perspectives to bear on questions of accountability and legitimacy, which are still comparatively under-analysed in global change and governance literatures.
