Andrej Udovč

Andrej Udovč is Associated Professor of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development at Biotechnical Faculty, UL. He is Head of the Chair for Agrometheorology, Agricultural Land Management, Agricultural Economics and Rural Development. His main research interests pertain to farm management, farming and nature protection, and coexistence of rural economies and protected areas.

Since 1997 he participated in several international and bilateral projects as a researcher or leader of the Slovenian project partner. Among them: "Integrated Development of Agricultural and Rural Institutions in CEEC’s" (IDARI 2003-2006) (EU 5.th research framework programme project), Evaluation of Compulsory Modulation in the EU member states, Evaluation of Cross Compliance in the EU member states, Natura 2000 preparatory actions Lot 2: Pilot Natura 2000 Helpdesk to be integrated on the EUROPA website, Evaluation of the LFA (Less Favoured Areas) Measures, Network of the local agricultural production for the valorisation and the knowledge of the Alpine area (NEPROVALTER) 2003-2006 (Interreg IIIb Alpine space project), Impact of Environmental Agreements on the CAP (MEACAP) 2004-2006 (EU 6.th research framework programme project), Sustainable Agriculture in Central and Eastern European Countries (CEESA) 2000-2004 (EU 5.th research framework programme project).

He was also the member of the Slovenian team which drafted the Slovene agri-environmental programme for period 2002-2006 and rural development strategy for 2007-2013. He is member of International Committee for the Research of the Alps. He acted as a vice president of this committee between 2002 and 2004. He is a member of the International society of Ecological Economics since 2004 and he organized the 8.th conference of the European society for Ecological Economics in Ljubljana in 2009.
