Anna Davies

Anna Davies is Associate Professor of Geography at Trinity College Dublin an institution she joined in 2001 from a lectureship at Kings College London. Anna completed her undergraduate and doctoral studies at the University of Cambridge and holds a Masters degree from Oxford Brookes University in Planning. She co-ordinates the multidisciplinary (including engineers, architects, natural and social scientists) Environmental Governance Research Group within the School of Natural Sciences and participates in Trinity College’s Climate Justice Research Network. Anna is a member of the Royal Irish Academy’s Geographical Sciences Committee where she is leading a work programme on Climate Justice which has included an Academy Discourse by Mary Robinson.

Anna’s research falls into the broad field of social science and focuses on environmental governance, specifically within the sectors of environmental awareness, waste management, biodiversity, climate change and sustainable development and consumption. She is currently the Principal Investigator on two major projects, CONSENSUS (Consumption, Environment and Sustainability) funded by the Environmental Protection Agency which examines the practice and governance of consumption within households and Creating a Sustainable Economy funded by the Irish Research Council for Humanities and Social Sciences which is examining the form, function and governance of sustainability-focused grassroots enterprise and innovation.
