Klaus Dingwerth
Klaus Dingwerth is assistant professor for political science at the Institute for Intercultural and International Studies (InIIS) at the University of Bremen, Germany.
Within The Global Governance Project (glogov.org), he co-ordinates, together with Philipp Pattberg, the activities of the MECGLO research group (New Mechanisms of Global Governance).
In his own research, Klaus focuses on the theory and practice of transnational politics and on normative approaches to global governance. He is author of 'The New Transnationalism: Transnational Governance and Democratic Legitimacy' (Palgrave Macmillan, 2007) and has published articles in International Studies Quarterly, the European Journal of International Relations, Global Governance, and Global Environmental Politics.
Before joining the University of Bremen, Klaus was a researcher with the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and a lecturer at the Otto Suhr Institute of Political Science of the Freie Universität Berlin. In 2004 and 2008, he held visiting researcher positions at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) in Geneva. In 2001, Klaus acted as conference manager of the first Berlin Conference on the Human Dimensions of Global Environmental Change, organised by the Global Change and Environmental Policy Working Group of the German Political Science Association (DVPW).
His academic awards include a doctoral scholarship by the German National Academic Foundation (2003-2005), a GARNET Mobility Fellowship (2008) and, more recently, a research grant by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) to establish a young researchers group on ‘Changing Norms of Global Governance’ (2010-2014).
