Per-Olof Busch

Per-Olof Busch is post-doc researcher and lecturer at the Chair of International Organisations and Public Policy at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Potsdam. Before joining the University of Potsdam in 2010 has been working as researcher at the Freie Universität Berlin where he also studied Political Science. In the course of his career he worked as guest researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Netherlands, participated in several European research projects, stayed for research purposes – amongst others – in Mexico, Hungary, France, and the U.S., and visited different international organisations.

Per-Olof Busch is co-editor of a special issue of the Politische Vierteljahresschrift “Politik und Umwelt” (Politics and Environment) and has published articles in Journal of European Public Policy, The Annals of the American Political Science Association, European Journal of Political Research as well as contributions to two edited volumes with MIT Press. He is member of the management committee of the European research network “The transformation of global environmental governance: risks and opportunities“ in the research program "European Cooperation in the field of Scientific and Technical Research (COST)“ and one of three speakers of the working group “Global Change” in the German Association for Political Science.

His current research focuses on international institutions and organisations; the role of communication, emulation, and learning in international policy coordination; the repercussions of political and economic globalization on national and international politics; and cross-national policy diffusion and policy convergence. Within this context, he specializes in the study of international environmental politics and the comparison of national environmental policies.
